Why an Independently Owned Car Repair Shop?

The local independent shop owner knows that in order to succeed in business, he has to be a part of the community. He knows that people in his community are going to be the key to his or her success by spreading the "good word", about his or her business practices. Word of mouth, as we all know, is a very powerful tool. In providing a much needed service for the community and at the same time showing EMPATHY and UNDERSTANDING for his or her customers needs, they become the "place to go" whenever you have car trouble. After all, they don't have to answer to any Corporate mandates, as it is the case with many of the large non-franchised chains or dealers. They make their own decisions as to what good business practices are.

Whenever you visit their facilities you can easily check their credentials, they usually display them proudly on their office walls. Those credentials are a testimony to their years of experience and the many rigorous and continues testing they must take and pass in order to become true professional technicians.

In many cases, factory training in here or abroad, and/or the years of experience with a particular brand or specialty, surpasses any other accreditation needed. When that is the case, they will usually display the certificates or diplomas provided by the factories, proving that they have received the training or certifications as a Master Technician on that specific brand of car.

Additionally, when a shop owner belongs to any professional association such as any of the ones shown above , they are expected to live by a certain code of ethics from their respective Associations. Consumers are always on the look out for quality auto repair at a fair price. Members of the Automotive Service Associations with their logos displayed on both outside colunms promise to adhere to that Code of Ethics and set the example for the nation on how automotive repair should be done.

Don't fall prey to the many so called "specialists" out there, when in doubt ask for credentials, if you don't see them displayed prominently. If a shop claims to "specialize" on your particular brand of car, ask for proof of training! When going to a shop for the first time, don't just stay in the office, ask to see the inside of their shop. Besides credentials, cleanliness and a well equipped shop, tells you that they take pride in their operation.

We encourage to click on the Association's logos to read what they mean to you as a customer.
